Alejandro Mercado Celis

PhD in Urban Planning (specialization in regional and international development) from the University of California Los Angeles, School of Public Affairs, Department of Urban Planning. He is currently a Level II National Researcher and Ambassador in Mexico of the Regional Studies Association. His line of research is in the field of creative and cultural industries in North America. He has directed several research projects funded by UNAM, CONACYT and the Government of Mexico City. He is currently coordinating the project "The Transnational Art Dialogue: The Effect of the Border on the Music Network in The Pacific Northwest" with funding from Creative BC (government agency of British Columbia) and the Border Policy Research Institute of Western Washington University. Dr. Mercado is part of the editorial board of the journals Frontera Norte, Area Development and Policy, Revista Internacionales, Revista Norteamerica and Revista Espacialidades.
