The cisan is currently reorganizing its ongoing projects into six lines of inquiry to articulate our research in a more dynamic atmosphere in which freedom in research and teaching are the touchstones of intellectual creativity.

1. Security and governability
2. Migration and borders
3. Economic processes, integration, and development
4. Identity and cultural processes
5. Social actors, structures and processes
6. Ideas and political institutions

Our individual research projects achieve academic excellence through exchange programs and participation in collaborative international projects that our researchers are increasingly involved in.
In recent years, we have stimulated interdisciplinary, interinstitutional collective projects on issues dealt with in the individual projects.
