Juan Carlos Barrón Pastor holds a PhD in International Development Philosophy and a Master's Degree in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia (United Kingdom), as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Administration from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is Director and Researcher at the Center for Research on North America (CISAN) and has 14 years of experience at UNAM. His academic work focuses on the geopolitics of the US media and the interdisciplinary study of North American cyberspace from the perspective of Critical Socio-Cybernetics. He is co-founder of the CODDAN-Lab and participates in PAPIIT projects on digital diplomacy, digital communities, transmedia practices, and global transitions. He coordinates seminars on Critical Socio-Cybernetics and Emerging Actors in Human Security. His publications include the book Critical Socio-Cybernetics: A Geopolitical Method... and collective works on digital capitalism, infodemics, and contemporary geopolitics. He is also a tenured professor in the Faculty of Accounting and Administration, has been president of the Academy of International Business, and has been recognized with the 2019 Teaching Merit Award and the 2017 Distinguished Professor Award. He has served as academic secretary of CISAN, member of ruling commissions, and currently serves on international editorial committees. He coordinates and hosts the series “Mirador Norteamericano,” broadcast on TV UNAM.
