Mission
Our mission is to deepen the knowledge about the United States and Canada, and their relations with Mexico or other regions by developing individual or collective research projects that, together with our commitment to teaching and our academic extension, all imperative aims of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, contribute to strengthening our country’s role in the region.
Vision
To consolidate CISAN as a leading institution in transdisciplinary knowledge with a regional focus on North America, both nationally and internationally. Getting advantage by leveraging the flexibility of its research lines which allow them to adapt to the current contextual needs of analysis and interpretation. In this way, CISAN contributes to the deep comprehension of political, economic, social and cultural phenomena in long and medium terms.
The Center for Research on North America (CISAN) has the following objectives:
- To carry out UNAM’s core activities of teaching, research, and dissemination by producing interdisciplinary, specialized and scientific knowledge about the United States and Canada, as well as Mexico’s relation with both countries.
- To strengthen the research lines of CISAN and promote the integration of research wh teaching and dissemination activities. This is accomplished through collective specialized projects that promote inter-institutional dialogue, academic exchange and elaboration of editorial and audiovisual products.
