Since its establishment more than three decades ago, CISAN’s research approach has gone through various stages, driven by the need to address current and complex issues that require the exploration of new knowledge frontiers. In this way, the center has responded to a growing demand for new insights stimming from the transformations in economic, political, social and cultural spheres in North America and the world, including the implications and role of Mexico in said context. This has led to the redefinition of research, teaching, and diffusion priorities aimed at contributing to a better understanding of North America’s current dynamics.
CISAN strengthens its research potential by addressing key topics, essential for the study of North America within the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. With the aim of fostering a more dynamic academic environment where freedom of research and teaching serve as pillars of intellectual creativity, CISAN organizes its projects by classifying them in seven major research lines:
-
1. Security and Governance
-
2. Economic Processes, Integration and Development
-
3. Migration and Borders
-
4. Identities and Cultural Processes
-
5. Actors, Structures and Social Processes
-
6. Ideas and Political Institutions
-
7. Spaces, Actors, and Digital Communities
