Profile
Julieta Flores Jurado is a researcher in the field of Society and Culture at UNAM's Center for North American Studies (CISAN). The title of her current project is Radical Commensality: Food Cultures, Gastropolitics, and Social Justice in the United States in the 21st Century.
She holds a PhD in Literature from UNAM, and has a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature and a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Literatures from the same institution.
Julieta was a Postdoctoral Fellow at CISAN (2022-2024), where her research focused on the political shift in U.S. Food Media and Journalism post-2020, as well as the representation of chefs and professional kitchens that critique systemic abuses of power and harmful masculinities within this field. She has also served as a lecturer at UNAM's School of Philosophy and Literature since 2014 and is a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (Level I).
